A learnup? What’s that?

So, you’ve heard about hackathons. You might even know somebody who has attended one. But you still hold reservations. Can you work through the weekend? Are the problem statements interesting? Can you really learn from them?

To answer these questions and more, we’ve introduced a new concept: the learnup. At learnups, you will find the true spirit of peer learning. You interact with and learn from your peers as you work on real-world problem statements.

You get a flavor of what to expect when you attend a real hackathon. These learnups are not merely a learning session. You learn by doing! Industry mentors will guide you when you get stuck.

Here is roughly how the learnup works:

10:00 a.m.* Doors open and registration begin. Participants encouraged to work in teams, introduce themselves.

10: 15 a.m.  Introduction to the mentor, and the problem statement.

10:30 a.m.  A brief tutorial about ways to approach the problem statement. Also, a few tutorials about relevant technologies used to tackle the problem.

12:00 noon. Ideation phase. Participants come up with several interesting ideas around the problem statement.

2: 00 p.m. Peer feedback session. Teams talk about some of the ideas they have brewing. The mentor and other peers give their feedback.

4: 00 p.m. Submission time! You can submit your developed products or strategies on our platform. If you haven’t finished, don’t worry. We know that in a short period of time, you will probably not be able to come up with a finished product. We encourage you to work on the problem and submit it at a later date.

We will showcase your submission on our platform. Our hiring partners are always on the prowl for the best candidates. So what are you waiting for? Check out this link where you can get more information on upcoming learnups in your city.

*Note that times are just a rough guideline; timings vary according to traffic conditions. Wait. Sorry. Timings vary according to the nature of the crowd, and the problem statement.
